Matt Reams and Tim Daughtry Join Waypoint Wealth Counsel

August 7, 2018

Waypoint Wealth Counsel is proud to welcome its newest members, Matt Reams and Tim Daughtry, to its firm. Together, they bring 35 years of investment management experience to the firm. Their background as portfolio managers brings a new dynamic to Waypoint that will complement the best in class financial counseling that it has offered since 2014.

Matt will serve as the Portfolio Manager for the firm’s Small Cap Value portfolios, which he founded at Buckhead Capital Management in 2000. Prior to his 18 years at BCM, he was a Portfolio Manager at Montag & Caldwell Investment Counsel in Atlanta, Georgia. At Montag, Matt was a voting member of the investment management team and co-managed the mutual fund department serving over 300 institutional clients and $3 billion in assets. Previously, he was an investment consultant for a national consulting firm and an equity analyst for a Midwest investment-counseling firm. Matt received a B.A. degree in Religion and Philosophy from Furman University. He holds a CFA charter and is a member of both the CFA Institute and the Atlanta Society of Finance and Investment Professionals. Married, with two sons and a daughter, Matt enjoys playing golf and coaching his children’s sports activities.

Tim will serve as a Research Associate at Waypoint Wealth Counsel. Prior to joining Waypoint, he held the same role at Buckhead Capital Management since 2011. Tim received a B.S. with honors in Management and a concentration in Finance from the Georgia Institute of Technology. While an undergraduate he worked as an intern in investment management at Edge Capital Partners and as an intern in business valuation at Adams Capital. Tim also served as a Director for the Georgia Tech Student Foundation Investments Committee where he was responsible for researching equities and managing the student endowment portfolio. He holds a CFA charter and is a member of both the CFA Institute and the Atlanta Society of Finance and Investment Professionals. In his free time, Tim likes to play golf and the guitar. He and his wife also enjoy attending Georgia Tech football games.
